If you’re a babysitter, you’ve probably have come across times when you thought the parents were never going to come home. Babysitting isn’t always easy; in fact it can be doubt right stressful, especially when the kids are bored and wanting to be entertained in some way. Luckily, there are a number of fun babysitting activities you can use help keep the kids busy and the time flying by. Here are three ideas:
Painting Pictures
Painting with either paint brushes or finger painting is a great creative outlet for kids and can often keep them entertained for quite a while. Just make sure the parents know about your plans ahead of time and that you use washable water based paints.
Playing Board Games
No one gets tire of playing boardgames, especially kids. There are so many great boardgames out there that can be a lot of fun for the both kids and adults alike. Some of my favorites include monopoly, checkers, and snakes and ladders.
Creative Writing
For the older kids, you might want to encourage them to write a short story or poem and share it with everyone. You’d actually be surprised how popular this is with kids especially the ones with a naturally creative nature about them. You could even act out the story afterward with the kids for even more fun.
Choosing which type of activity for the kids somewhat depends on their ages. Not many 10-year-olds are going to be interested in playing duck duck goose. If the children you are babysitting are of varying ages, choose an activity that they all could enjoy such as board game or something more physical like twister (one my personal favorites). In the end, the most important thing is for the kids to have fun and while your at it, why not you as well. Now that you’re prepared, start posting those babysitting flyers around your town and actually have fun babysitting this time.
