Pokemon Online Role Playing Games

The future of Pokemon RPG and Pokemon MMORPG was uncertain when, on December 1st, 2007, Pokemon Crater’s Creator, “Aaron”, deemed the Pokemon online games too much for his work-load, and closed it down. Pokemon Crater was faithfully based on the Nintendo Gameboy and DS game versions, but with the added element of multiplayer play, where users would battle one another and compete for a coveted position within the Top 100 Trainers list.

High demand for the online Pokemon games brought on the re-creation of Pokemon Crater in 2008, which is now known as Battle Pokemon Arena (although nowhere near as good), and is one of many Pokemon RPG games on the internet today. However no single Pokemon online RPG is exactly the same, other’s such as the Pokemon Playground Arena allow a player to join a specific Pokemon team, which includes Team Aqua, Galaxy, Magma and Rocket. Pokemon Vortex is a sleek and faster version of the Pokemon RPG, and allows a wide range of Pokemon to be chosen as starting creatures, and a diverse range of Pokemon to be discovered in the wild, not simply a repetition as is seen in more traditional Pokemon games. Pokemon Indigo has a similar structure to Pokemon Vortex, and shares the ample variation of Pokemon that Vortex has, but seems a slightly slower game play.

Pokemon RPG games are community based, easy to play online at work or school, and are versatile in allowing members to play on any computer; but they are also often slow and susceptible to hackers and cheats. There are, however, options of installing Pokemon RPG’s on your computer for a better graphical experience and smoother play. One such game is Pokemon World Online, which features traditional Pokemon game play, multiplayer duels, Pokemon trading and player chat.

As this article clearly shows, Pokemon RPG and Pokemon MMORPG games, whether independent or more professionally made and managed, will always have strong community support by their members, and are constantly sought out by those who love the Pokemon game, and so will be resilient throughout the ages of the internet.
