Rice Cooker Reviews for the Whole Family

To get the best rice cooker for your family you should definitely try and do a reasonable amount of research into what the various machines are capable of. A good way to go about this is to read a range of rice cooker reviews. These are very easy to find online if you search for them. In addition, when you go to shopping sites such as Amazon.com you are able to read reviews that have been written by people who have purchased the various different models. This is another way to get a feel for which machine is right for you.

How much money do you have spare to spend on a rice cooker? This will to a large extent determine what sort of appliance you will be able to get. The technology is improving all the time and prices are falling too. This means that to get a Micom rice cooker only costs around about $100. If you can afford it, you will definitely be able to taste the difference. Japanese brands like Zojirushi, Sanyo and Panasonic mainly produce this type of rice cooker. They also make some cheaper models but their main area of focus is on the high quality Micom variety. This means that if you want one of the best rice cookers then the smart choice is to choose a Japanese made product. However if you want to save money then there are U.S. made brands such as Aroma and Black & Decker that can be found for much cheaper. So it really just depends upon what is more important to you, high quality rice whenever you use your rice cooker or low cost initial cost. Of course, there is nothing wrong with getting a cheaper rice cooker to see what you think. Maybe it will be good enough for you. If not, you could always go back to read more rice cooker reviews and choose another model.

Do You Want a Sanyo Rice Cooker?

Now a days there are many people who decide to buy a Sanyo ECJ-PX50S rice cooker. What is so good about this machine? Why is it becoming so popular? These are good questions and ones that I shall discuss in this article.

Zojirushi and Sanyo are the two most widely available rice cooker brands across North America at present. Japanese rice cookers are regarded as the best because their electronics industry is a world leader. On top of this is the fact that rice is a common food in Japan. Therefore it is no wonder that their companies have been able to produce machines that do a great job of making delicious rice.

The Sanyo ECJ-PX50S has a host of features that make it an impressive piece of Japanese engineering. For example it has a think cooking bowl. Its thickness is 3.5 mm. This helps to distribute heat as evenly as possible. The end result of this is that the rice should be cooked more thoroughly and therefore taste better.

One of the main features of this machine is its variable pressure control. Cooking rice at pressure is becoming a more popular option on high quality rice cookers. This model is one of the cheaper machines to have the pressure control function so it represents good value for money.

This is probably one reason why many people are deciding to purchase a Sanyo ECJ-PX50S today. It has a special lock that means you do not have to worry about too much pressure building up and an accident ensuing. This machine should help you get rice that tastes great.

The good news is that it is easy to clean up when you are finished cooking. As with most high quality rice cookers sold today, the Sanyo ECJ-PX50S has a removable inner lid to facilitate easy cleaning.

Tips For Long Term Food Storage

Before Y2K, most people discounted survivalist as a bunch of loons or White Supremest. Once people starting thinking the worst might happen, they started stockpiling food and other goods for basic necessities. It wasn’t long before people started calling them survivalist! Fast forward to the current times and we find that once again, people are stockpiling food, guns and basic necessities for life due to the economic crisis. You don’t have to be a survivalist to be wise enough to put back food for the long haul. Here are a few tips you can use to get started.

It’s super easy to practice long term food storage. First, whenever you go to your local grocery store, buy a few extra cans of whatever you normally buy. If you get 5 cans of Corn, then get 10. Use the 5 and put back 5. If you start doing this, you’ll find that your stockpile will grow quickly. You’ll soon be avoiding buying junk food so you can buy extra food for your stockpile.

Another good way to stockpile food for long term is to buy in bulk from warehouse stores like Sam’s and Costco. Since there isn’t a Costco in our area, we buy in bulk from Sam’s. We buy cases of can goods for our stockpile each time we visit.

Although can goods are great, they do take up a lot of space. That’s why I also buy bulk grains in sealed 5 gallon cans. Well, actually I buy bulk grains such as rice and beans and then seal them myself in 5 gallon buckets.

If this seems a little extreme for you, or you don’t think this is something you’d like to do, then Costco has a full line of long term food already packaged in sealed containers. You can even buy a whole years supply at once if you so choose!

What Do The Different Grades Of Olive Oil Mean?

If it’s one thing that confuses new cooks, it’s the different grade of olive oils. And it’s understandable. There are different grades from one region to another. Even different standards within the regions! Knowing all that, it’s no wonder why there is so much confusion when people talk about olive oil. Even some authors of online Gourmet olive oil reviews get the different grades wrong.

Here are some quick and easy tips to remember when looking at olive oils. These are the basic grades of olive oils.

The fist one is called extra virgin olive oil. This is the less refined olive oil and is produced with no chemicals. It’s generally darker than more refined oil. However, it’s this darkness that holds the most nutrition.

Virgin olive oil is oil can be a more refined oil and is generally less than 2% acidity. This oil may also be mixed with olive oils from different farms or producers.

Refined olive oil is produced using different methods such as chemicals, steam and other modern techniques. This oil is not high quality like extra virgin olive oil and generally cost less. The old saying that you get what you pay for is just as true for olive oil as it is for anything else.

Standard or 100% pure olive oil is generally a highly refine oil and is likely to be mixed with other olive oil from different batches and even different countries. They’re allowed to put the label of ‘pure olive oil’ on the bottle as long as it’s not mixed with other oils. This is one thing that confuses consumers.

Flavored olive oils are olive oil that is mixed with herbs or other types of oils such as sunflower, canola, flax or macadamia. Some producers use their lesser quality oil for their flavored oils so that the blended oil will hide the flavor of the lesser oil. While this is not true for all blended oils, you should experiment in order to find your favorite type of oil before buying any in quantity.
