Practice These Golf Swing Tips

Golf is ever growing in popularity not only to people who are in the upper levels of society but also in the middle class. This sport provides leisure and at the same time adventure, not only to the players but also to the viewers. Here are some golf swing tips to help you improve your game. Put some of them into practice on your next golf vacation.

The critical period on playing golf is when one swings his golf club to hit the golf ball into the desired position and eventually put the ball in the hole. If one knows how to swing correctly, he would definitely get better scores and better chances of winning a tournament. He can also save himself from any injury while playing the game.

First, you should know how to take a grip of your golf club. This is considered the foundation of the golf swing and is critical for your success in hitting the ball better. There is the interlocking grip, the overlapping grip, and the baseball grip, among many types of grip. The interlocking grip is when the little finger of the right hand and the index finger of the left hand interlock with each other.

This allows the player to create maximum power those who have thick hands or those who have shorter hands. The overlapping grip is when the index finger of the left hand is at the bottom of the little finger of the right hand and would require strong wrists for better drive. The baseball grip is when the little finger of the right hand and the index finger of the left hand are just in contact.

The second thing that you would have to remember is your stance. You should put your weight in a balanced position, bend at the hips and have slight flex on your knees. It is also important that you would also have erect spinal posture to protect your back.

The next thing to remember is to do the correct backswing and downswing. For the right handed players, you have to keep your left arm in straight position and go back as far as you can for your backswing. Then start your downswing with your hips. Contrary to what others may think, using your hand is not the way to generate more power, but the leverage that comes from the angle between the golf club and the wrists.

It is not also good to rush your downswing because it will result to poor shots. You do not have to swing very hard too. Instead, make a smooth movement to hit the ball solidly. This would create the perfect follow through. Practice these tips and you will surely do better swings and get better scores.

Golf Holidays in Portugal – Best Regions To Visit For Golfing Breaks

In terms of sunny golf holidays Portugal will always beat the British Isles for year round good golfing weather. This article picks out the country’s key golfing regions, and some championship courses that showcase the best course design and vistas on offer.

When it comes to having a centralized golf holiday Algarve can provide the greatest concentration of courses within close proximity of accommodation. Vilamoura town has become the main destination for golfers, in no small part due to the town’s range of resorts and courses (e.g. Vale Do Lobo, Oceanico Old Course & Pinheiros Altos).

But it is worth venturing out east in the Algarve (especially in Winter when the eastern area is warmer) to discover the sophisticated resorts that have sprung up around Benamor and Monte Rei. Driving to the western Algarve area provides even more championship courses (e.g. Penina).  There are also some great hillside courses (Parque Da Floresta & Boavista being two must-play courses) that have the additional challenge of the gusting wind off of the Atlantic Ocean.

Staying on the west coast, many long haul golfers flying into Lisbon could be on the first tee of a dozen great courses in Estoril within hours of landing. If you only play 2 courses in the area then it would have to be Penha Longa and Praia D’El Rey, both of which have a course design and level of quality befitting of the green fee. But you won’t just want to play 2 courses in the area as then you would miss out on playing the Troia links, the two Aroeira courses (of which the mature one is the better) and Quinta Da Beloura.

Finally, one of the burgeoning regions in Portugal in golf terms is the Oeste region. Courses and resorts are popping up around Sizandro, Falesia D’El Rey and Rainha and while they may not have the golfing history as some of the southern courses, they still have some great course architecture and the scenic drives to these towns can often prove to be less frantic than the traffic experienced in the south.

Golf Cart Safety

When you go to a golf course, you may decide to rent a golf cart.  If you do, then there are a few safety rules you may want to remember before you begin driving the golf cart. To find out what they are, keep on reading.

First, you should make sure that you do not overload the golf cart with passengers.  If the golf cart is designed to carry only two people, you should not load four people in it.  If you do, you are increasing the probability of getting into an accident by flipping the golf cart over.

Next, you should drive the golf cart only on designated paved trails.  There are two reasons for this rule.  First, if you drive on the grass, you can either tear up the golf course or lose control.  Either of these scenarios can be detrimental.  Second, by driving on the paved trails, pedestrians are aware of the possibility of a golf cart.  Off of the paved trails, people usually aren’t looking for golf carts.  Hence, the probability of getting into an accident is far higher when driving off of the designated paved trails.

Third, you should remind all passengers to keep their hands and feet in the golf cart.  Many people have unfortunately been injured when they ignored this common sense rule.

Lastly, all passengers need to make sure that they wear their seat belts.  Just as with a car, a seat belt will keep the golf cart’s occupants from being thrown from the vehicle.  Now, you may feel there is no need to wear your seat belt.  However, there have been numerous victims of head and neck injuries from being thrown from a golf cart that took a turn far too quickly.
