Hollywood hasn’t given telekinesis a fair shake. Think back to most mainstream movies about the subject. What do you see? How about a wronged girl at the prom tearing about her high-school gymnasium? Or maybe you see a vengeful woman ripping a Ferris wheel about with only the power of her mind?
In Hollywood, people blessed with the gift of telekinesis are treated as freaks or monsters. They invariably use their powers for evil, often murdering anyone who stands in their way.
Reality, of course, is a lot more boring than that. Thanks goodness. In the rest of this interesting article we will take a look at the real telekinesis.
The truth is, most of us have the ability to move objects with our mind. We just haven’t developed this talent. As with any muscle, if we don’t use it, if we don’t work it out, it becomes flabby and useless.
If you want to explore your untapped telekinetic power, start with a simple exercise. Purchase an inexpensive pendulum. Hold it from your fingers and close your eyes. Block out any distracting thoughts. Instead, concentrate on the pendulum dangling from your hand. Imagine that pendulum moving. Start slowly. Picture the pendulum moving slightly to the left. Then picture it swaying just a bit to the right.
Keep imagining this until the only thought in your mind is that of your pendulum slowly, gradually moving back and forth.
Now, open your eyes and stare intently at the pendulum. Again picture it moving from right to left. Remember to only imagine slight, small movements. Don’t be discouraged if your pendulum doesn’t budge. Remember, you’ve never really used your telekinetic muscles. It takes time to develop them.
Set aside time every week – or, even better, every day – to practice the pendulum trick. Before long, if you remain devoted to the exercise, you’ll notice that your pendulum moves ever so slightly as you stare at it. Keep working on this, and these small movements will grow into larger ones. Before long, that pendulum will be swaying as if it’s marking time in a grandfather clock.
We can all learn how to use telekinesis. And despite what Hollywood may say, those of us who can move objects with our minds are far from monsters. We’re evolved!
