Maximize Your Bedroom Storage with a Wardrobe Closet

Wardrobe closets are a great way to keep your possessions hidden from view, though they can be used for so much more. Apart from keeping things organized, these closets can be a great way to add a unique element of decor to your bedroom. Many of the modern or contemporary wardrobes that are available today rival some of the older antique wardrobes in terms of their ability to provide visual presence to a room. When selecting a new wardrobe it’s important to take some time to research the various options that are available. Because your wardrobe will be highly visible, it’s important that it fit in properly with the overall decor or theme of your bedroom. The first thing people are likely to notice when they walk into your room is your wardrobe, so it’s important that you choose wisely.

While it’s obvious that a wardrobe is designed to hold your clothing and other personal items, how to organize your belongings might not be so obvious. After all, you can’t expect your wardrobe to organize things for you. Instead, you should purchase a set of storage boxes to keep your possessions organized. Clear shoe storage boxes are quite handy for storing large quantities of shoes and other small items, and can be a life saver when it comes to finding things quickly and without making a large mess. Storing items in boxes allows you to use your space efficiently, and because boxes are easily stacked, they allow you to store other items with ease.

Proving an exact cost figure for a wardrobe closet can be quite difficult, particularly since price can vary dramatically depending on the size of the wardrobe you require. The type of material used in the construction of the wardrobe  will also have a significant impact on the final cost of the piece. Fortunately, there are wardrobes available to satisfy almost any budget, so get out there are start shopping to find the perfect one for you.

Wood Wardrobe Closets

For Christmas, my wife and I decided to splurge a little bit and buy something we’ve wanted to have in our family for a long time: a nice antique armoire. So, we went online and, after much research into different sites and peoples selling antiques, we found a seller we trusted on Ebay and got ourselves a very cool wooden closet.

Now I know most people don’t get very excited about a wood wardrobe closets, but, hey, we’re not most people! It’s probably because as a kid, in some strange act of fate, both of us remember a bulky, sturdy stand alone closet in our grandparents home. And both of our grandparents lost those wonderful antique pieces in the same Hurricane Hugo incident in 1993, in the southern US, when thousands of folks lost their homes and all their belongings.

It’s weird how memories work, but somehow, it came to be this symbolic sign of respect to get an armoire i.e. a solid wood antique wardrobe closet – again, and have it in our homes. I don’t know if I would ever tell my parents that, since it almost sounds belittling to mention a piece of furniture that functions in my memory as a respectful sign to my wonderful memories of my Grandma and Grandpa who are no longer living.

Unlike most people who understandably place their wooden wardrobe armoire in their master bedroom (or guest room, etc), we decided to put ours centrally in the living room. We aren’t even going to use it for clothes – even though they call it a wardrobe closet, it’s really just a storage unit, and you can put anything in it you’d like. It’s mostly empty but we plan to fill it up with photo albums over the years, as that’s what I mainly remember my Grandmothers armoire holding, which also – very sadly, might I mention – perished in the same natural disaster.

One goal we have in mind with buying a wooden wardrobe closet is that we can one day pass it on to our kids, god forbid another disaster take it away from us. The family heirloom has made a fast disappearing act in our modern world, and that’s not something we wanted to be a part of. It’s nice to have something here in our living room that both reminds us of our past and yet promises to link us to our children, you know?
