US Vice President shoots man while hunting

by andy on “Mon 13, February 2006”

This story made my day, although presumably it didn’t make the day of the man on the receiving end:

The US Vice-President, Dick Cheney, has accidentally shot and injured a man during a quail hunting trip in Texas.

Ms Armstrong said Mr Cheney had turned round to shoot at a bird but sprayed Mr Whittington with shotgun pellets instead.

Happily, Mr Whittington was lucky enough to be shot by the Vice President who, being in poor health, has his own medical team within yards at all times.

Made my day as well. Kinda of makes you miss Gerald Ford. Apparently to add insult to injury (literally) Cheney didn’t have to correct tag on his hunting license ($7 cost) but wasn’t cited (damn).
